BLACK CRUCIFIXION
"Rise Master Spirit, Rise Ghost of Hell"
A long time ago, before no-one was wacky enough to burn down churches or kill anyone, death metal ruled the underground scene and black metal was something really obscure. In these circumstances, Black Crucifixion was conceived in the year 1991. In fact, the pioneering band in the realm of dark music, Beherit, was certainly not the most insignificant factor in the conception of BC; Sodomatic Slaughter was one of the founder members of Beherit and Holocausto Vengeance, who can also be heard on this demo, was the brains behind Beherit. At that time, we were excited teenagers, as was almost every guy on the scene back then - as you might guess, this means that the music on this CD was written and recorded with a very serious frame of mind. Back in the early 1990's, we were living in the Arctic Circle where in the winter the temperature may drop under -50 Celsius and there is only a few hours of daylight. Of course, these natural conditions are reflected in the gloominess and coldness of BC's music. In all it authenticity ('"true black metal' as our flyers manifested), the music of BC is something that had to evolve - no one really wants to play this sort of material for years on end. In fact, the mini-CD "Promethean Gift", which was recorded a year after this demo, revealed quite a different atmosphere and we were already using the moniker avantgarde metal to describe the music. During the last few years, at least half a dozen record labels of different size have been eager to release this demo on CD or vinyl. Now at the turn of the millennium, we feel the time is finally ripe for these songs to be heard again. So here you have it, songs from the time when mothers did not buy black metal albums from music departments of supermarkets as Christmas gifts. Live well and prosper!
